MASS Timber Structures offers a full design service, collaborating with designers at an early stage using industry leading software packages, 3D BIM project design, Specialist Crane Operations with In-House AP (Approved Person) services and Full Site Management during installation with our own highly experienced & skilled team of installers.
Educational Buildings & Facilities
We have extensive experience in the education sector providing mass timber structures for pre-school, primary & secondary schools including associated sports facilities and a number of University and further education buildings.
Leisure Centres & Swimming Pools
Having been fortunate enough to provide the mass timber structures for a host of large sports & leisure facilities including the first full Passivhaus swimming pool building in Scotland (and second in the UK), we can offer design solutions using timber, providing large scale open spaces, whilst retaining the warm, calming & natural feel which is evident from the exposed timber elements.
Commerical & Public Buildings
MASS Timber Structures having gained a wealth of experience whilst working on a number of Commercial & Public buildings across the UK from large scale warehousing to Visitor Centers for a number of prominent whisky distilleries to Innovative Collaboration Hub buildings, Specialised Music venues, Auditoriums, Churches and Crematoriums and many others.
Residential Properties
As CLT and Glulam material become more and more recognised by designers of private Residential Properties, we are finding that clients are keen to explore and push the boundaries of modern design by using mass timber products to provide exciting and naturally open spaces within the living spaces of dwellings.

We have carried out a number of award winning design, supply and installation projects for a number of private clients.
3D BIM Project Design
Detailed design processes include early design advice and consulting, conceptual sketches, 2D general arrangements, industry leading CAD/CAM structural detailing and full 3D timber frame structural design.

By using Building Information Modelling (BIM), the structure can be modelled accurately using clash detection analysis of structural members and connections. Manufacturing drawings and material lists area created at the push of a button using our Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) process.
Pre-Construction Management
From the initial concept stage through all design stages to point of manufacture and delivery to site, a dedicated Pre-Construction or Project Manager will lead the project team and will attend regular design team / contractor meetings where clients can be in attendance.

This ensures a complete overview of project, ensuring economical & transparent design whist ensuring a robust interface through the costing, design & manufacture processes.
Specialist Projects & Craneage
Operations
MASS Timber Structures prides itself with it's approach to Health & Safety and indeed regularly wins awards within this sector.

We are experienced and trained to carry out Temporary Works plans, full Crane & Lift Plans with our own highly experienced & qualified Approved Person (AP).
​
Our specialist site team, include suitably trained & qualified Lift Supervisors and Slingers.
Full Site Management
Once on site, we provide full Site Management and Supervision by trained managers who are qualified in all matters relative to the site installation.

Recording events & progress on site utilising our own site recording package, ensures that we have a full record of deliveries to site, weather events, daily progress including photos. moisture readings and all records of fixings and connections to be included in our robust Quality Assurance records.
